Thunder Earn MIAA Team Academic Award

ANGOLA, Ind. -- For the second consecutive year, the Trine men's basketball team has been recognized by the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association for its excellence in the classroom.

The Thunder earned a 3.31 GPA. The academic success was highlighted by senior Jared Holmquist being named the 2015-16 CoSIDA Academic All-American of the Year. CLICK HERE to watch the CoSIDA Academic All-American of the Year video.

On the floor, the team experienced unprecedented success by matching the best start in school history at 10-1 and earning a ranking in the NCAA Division III Top 25 for the first time in school history. Trine earned its first appearance in the MIAA Championship game and set a program record for most wins in the Division III era with 18, topping the previous-high of 17 set last season. Trine is one of only two MIAA men's basketball programs to be recognized for this academic achievement.
