Lindsay Obtains Head Coaching Position

ANGOLA, Ind. -- Former Trine men's basketball assistant Kyle Lindsay has been named head coach of Adrian College's men's basketball program.

Lindsay joined the Thunder program along with head coach Brooks Miller in 2011. He helped lead Trine to five straight appearances in the MIAA Semifinals, including the program's first appearance in the MIAA Championship game this past season. Lindsay contributed to the team's first NCAA Division III Top 25 ranking (No. 23) in 2015-16, as well as a winning record in each of his five seasons on staff.

"I would like to thank Coach Lindsay on behalf of the entire Trine men's basketball program for his efforts and the impact he had on the success of our student athletes over the past five years," Miller said. "Coach Lindsay exemplified class in all of his work and will be deeply missed by all of us here at Trine University."

As a member of the Thunder coaching staff, Lindsay assisted in the development of five All-MIAA First Team performers. Among the program's top individual successes on the court was 2013 MIAA Player of the Year and Third-Team All-American Ian Jackson, as well as Jared Holmquist, the 2015-16 CoSIDA Academic All-American of the Year.

Lindsay was also responsible for overseeing the team's academic advising program. Under Lindsay's guidance, Trine earned a MIAA Team Academic Award and posted a 3.31 GPA during the 2015-16 school year. The Thunder had seven players achieve at least a 3.50 GPA during the 2015-16 academic year.

Miller has named Drew Lehman as Lindsay's successor. Lehman was an NCAA Division II All-American and standout performer at Ferris State University. He later went on to achieve professional playing success with Thor Akureyri basketball club in Akureyri, Iceland.

Trine opens its season Nov. 15 at home against Defiance.
