Daub Looking to Break Out in Senior Season

ANGOLA, Ind. -- Adison Daub is looking to cap off his career with the Trine men's basketball team with a breakout senior season.

Daub (Auburn, Ind. / DeKalb), who has seen limited action in his first two years with the Thunder is expected to play a much larger role on this year's team. Trine head coach Brooks Miller has been very pleased with Daub's approach to the upcoming season and is counting on utilizing his high basketball IQ, ball-handling ability and decision-making at both ends of the floor to help lead the team.

"It has been very evident that Adison has made a serious commitment to making a much larger contribution to our program this year by his work ethic and intensity at practice," Miller said. "We could really benefit from Adson's experience in our program and will rely on his ability to communicate what needs to be done out on the floor, especially at the defensive end."

When asked about what he feels his role will be on this year's team Daub says, "I believe my biggest job is to be a leader. Being a senior, I know what Coach Miller expects and I can help the underclassmen get where they need to be."

With only one junior on the roster, Miller will be leaning heavily on this senior class to provide the maturity and leadership required in order to have a chance to compete for an MIAA Championship.

"Adison's commitment to getting his body in better shape and the sacrifices he has made to grow as a player can be a great example for our younger players," said Miller.

Daub has made it clear that his motivation this year goes beyond basketball. "I want to be remembered as a great teammate and a champion," he said. "I would love to be a part of the first basketball team to win the MIAA."

Daub's committment to excellence extends to the classroom, where he carries a 3.23 in a demanding chemistry program.

Daub and the Thunder open the season at home on Tuesday, Nov. 15 against Defiance College, the defending Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Champion.
