Thunder Drop Road Contest at No. 19 North Park

CHICAGO, Ill.-- The Trine men's basketball team was defeated by No. 19 North Park, 81-62, in non-conference action Saturday evening at North Park Gymnasium.

The Vikings shot a blistering 51.6 percent from the field (33-of-64). The nation's sixth-best three-point shooting team also matched its season average of 44 percent (12-of-27) from long range. Jordan Robinson paced North Park with 26 points, which he scored on an efficient 10-of-13 shooting effort. Robinson knocked down 5-of-6 three-point attempts. Will Dixon (Indianapolis, Ind. / Zionsville) paced the Thunder with 14 points. Trine fell to 4-4 with the loss. NPU improved to 7-1 on the season.

Juwan Henry filled the stat sheet with 14 points, four assists and five steals for North Park. Darius Brown chipped in 13 points on a 6-of-7 effort from the field. The Vikings forced Trine into 21 turnovers, which were converted into 20 points. North Park also held a 39-22 scoring edge in the paint.

Adam Ciszewski (Sacramento, Calif. / Bella Vista) tied his career high with nine points for Trine. He knocked down 2-of-3 from long range and added five rebounds. Jordan Kreglow (Gibsonburg, Ohio / Gibsonburg) and Kyle Dodson (Centerville, Ohio / Centerville) each added nine points as well. The Thunder shot 44 percent from the field (22-of-50) and knocked down 7-of-15 (47 percent) from three-point range.

Trine's only lead came after a Dixon jumper made the score 11-9 at the 13:56 mark of the first half. The first key run of the game for North Park was a 17-5 spurt over a span of 5:28 in the first half, which turned a tie game into a 31-19 NPU advantage. The Thunder cut the deficit to single digits, but a seven-point run restored a double-digit Viking lead, 40-27, at the half.

The Thunder scored the first five of the second half to cut the deficit back to single digits, but another seven-point run restored the double-digit North Park lead for good. The Vikings would continue to build upon that lead, pushing the lead above 20 midway through the second half. The Vikings went on to lead by as much as 30.

Trine continues its road trip Monday, Dec. 19 when the Thunder battle a second-straight ranked foe. Trine will face No. 20 Wisconsin-Whitewater. Tip-off is scheduled for 8 p.m.

The Thunder will then complete its stretch of three-straight on the road Dec. 29 at Wilmington (Ohio), before returning to the friendly confines of Hershey Hall for a New Year's Eve tilt against Ohio Northern. All fans attending the ONU contest will receive free admission. Tip-off is scheduled for 2 p.m.
