Dixon Named to NABC All-Great Lakes District Team

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Trine's Will Dixon has been named to the 2017 National Association of Basketball Coaches Division III All-Great Lakes District team, the organization announced today.

Dixon (Indianapolis, Ind. / Zionsville) earned Second Team All-District honors for the first time in his career. The 2017 NABC Coaches' Division III All-District teams recognize the best men's collegiate basketball student-athletes and coaches in the division, as selected by member coaches of the NABC in Division III. Dixon is the third player in team history to receive All-District honors from the NABC, joining Jared Holmquist (2016) and Ian Jackson (2013).

The honor caps off a stellar senior season for Dixon, who earned his third consecutive All-MIAA First Team recognition. Dixon led the MIAA in assists, averaging 4.7 per game on a strong 2.21 assist-to-turnover ratio. He averaged a team-best 19.4 points per game and scored in double figures in every game. Dixon was named the MIAA Player of the Week twice this season and six times in his career.

Dixon will go down as one of the best all-around players in school history. He concluded his career ranked fifth in scoring with 1,799 career points, the most scored since the school joined NCAA Division III in 2004. Dixon also ranked sixth in program history in steals (160) and free throw percentage (.838), seventh in field goals made (652) and eighth in free throws made (347) and assists (310).

Earlier this season, Dixon was recognized as a member of the of the CoSIDA Academic All-District team. The team recognizes the nation's best student-athletes for their combined work athletically and in the classroom. Dixon sports a 3.50 GPA as a chemical engineering major.

Paced by Dixon, the Trine men's basketball team reached the semifinals of the MIAA Tournament for the sixth consecutive year. The Thunder concluded the season 14-12 overall and placed third in the MIAA with a 9-5 mark in league action. Dixon was one of three Trine players to earn postseason honors from the MIAA.
