Johnson Named MIAA Men's Basketball Player of the Week

ANGOLA, IND.  --  Trine University junior men's basketball player, Langston Johnson (Elkhart, Ind./Elkhart Central), has been named this week's Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association "Player of the Week."

Trine won a pair of games this past week with Johnson scoring a team-high 16 points in a 79-71 win against Albion (Mich.) College.  Johnson shot 31.3 percent (five-of-16) for the game and was a perfect five-of-five from the free-throw line.  In addition, Johnson tallied a game-high seven assists and had four rebounds.

Three days later, Langston added to his strong performance against the Britons with a 17-point effort, with 10 points coming at the free-throw line (10-of-10 overall), in a 74-63 win against Kalamazoo (Mich.) College on Saturday (Jan. 19).  To go along with his 17 points, Johnson fell an assist shy of completing a double-double with nine helpers.  He also grabbed three rebounds.

Trine will begin a three-game road trip on Wednesday, Jan. 23 when the Thunder travel to Alma, Mich. to take on Alma College.  The game is slated to start at 7:30 p.m.
