Langston Johnson Named MIAA Player of the Week

ANGOLA, IND.  --  Trine University senior men's basketball player Langston Johnson (Elkhart, Ind./Elkhart Central) has been named this week's Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association "Player of the Week."

Johnson helped lead Trine to a pair of victories last week with wins against Adrian (Mich.) College and Calvin (Mich.) College.  He averaged 25.5 points per game while shooting 61.3 percent (19-of-31) from the floor, including 70.0 percent (seven-of-10) from three-point range.

Johnson scored 28 points in Trine's 75-61 win at Adrian and added five rebounds, one assist, and one steal. Later in the week against Calvin, Johnson tallied 23 points along with four assists in Trine's 81-78 victory.

For the season, Johnson is one of four players who are currently averaging 10 or more points per with a team-high 18.7 ppg.  He is second on the team in three-pointers made (32) and is shooting 45.4 percent (108-of-238) overall from the floor.  He is also among the team leaders in rebounding (4.7 rebounds per game), assists (56) and steals (15).

The Thunder will play their next two games at home starting with a matchup against MIAA opponent Olivet (Mich.) College on Wednesday, Jan. 22 at the MTI Center.  The game is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m.
