ANGOLA, IND. -- Trine University junior Nick Bowman (Angola, Ind./Hamilton Southeastern) has been selected to this week's D3hoops.com "Team of the Week." Earlier this week, Bowman was also named the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association "Player of the Week."
Bowman helped lead the Thunder to a pair of wins this past week and stay unbeaten so far this season at 7-0.
Bowman scored 28 points in both Trine wins that included an 83-65 margin against Calvin (Mich.) College and a 59-49 decision against Adrian (Mich.) College. Against the Knights, he scored 18 of his game-high 28 points in the second half and ended the game going 10-of-16 (62.5 percent) from the floor, including five-of-seven (71.4 percent) from three-point range. He also led the team in rebounding with seven boards. In the matchup against Adrian, Bowman shot 10-of-18 shooting (55.6 percent) and was also seven-of-eight (87.5 percent) at the free-throw line.
For the season, Bowman leads the team in scoring (23.3 ppg.) and is second in the MIAA. In addition, his 23.3 ppg. ranks 17th in NCAA Division III. He is shooting 57.0 percent (61-of-107) in overall field goal percentage and 50.0 percent (12-of-24) from three-point range. Bowman also averages 4.4 rebounds per game and is among the team leaders in assists with 16.
Defensively, Bowman leads the team in steals with 20.
In his last five games, Bowman has scored 20 or more points and is averaging 26.8 ppg. on 58.8 percent shooting (50-of-85), including 61.1 percent (11-of-18) from behind the arc.
Trine will look to continue its hot start when it hosts Hope (Mich.) College at the MTI Center on Wednesday, Feb. 3. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m.
