ANGOLA, IND. -- The Trine University men's basketball team moved up to fifth place in the latest D3hoops.com national poll.
The Thunder improved to 9-0 for the season with two wins this past week that included a 91-52 win against Hope (Mich.) College on Wednesday (Feb. 3) and a 76-70 win against Albion on Saturday (Feb. 6).
Junior Nick Bowman (Angola, Ind./Hamilton Southeastern) averaged 25.0 points per game for the week and shot 65.5 percent (19-of-29) from the field and averaged 3.0 rebounds per game. He also had four assists and team-high eight steals. Two other players averaged in double figures in scoring in juniors Bryce Williams (Archbold, Ohio/Archbold) and Mitchell Geller (Huntington, Ind./Huntington North). Wiliams averaged 13.5 ppg., while Geller scored 11.5 ppg. in addition to leading the team in rebound at 4.5 rpg.
Additionally, junior Aiden Warzecha (Milford, Mich./Milford) had a team-high 11 assists and was tied for second in steals with six.
Trine is scheduled to stay on the road and travel to Kalamazoo, Mich. for a matchup against Kalamazoo College on Tuesday, Feb. 9 in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association opener. The game is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m.
