Men's Basketball Ranked Second in Latest D3hoops.com Poll

ANGOLA, IND.  --  The Trine University men's basketball team moved up a spot to second place in the latest D3hoops.com poll and also received three first-place votes.

The Thunder completed their first undefeated regular season (14-0) in the Trine NCAA Division III era this past Saturday (Feb. 27) with an 82-53 win against Albion (Mich.) College in its only action of the week.  Trine also finished a perfect 5-0 against Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association opponents and will be the top seed in the upcoming conference tournament.

Trine had four players score in double figures against Albion led by sophomore Brent Cox (Kendallville, Ind./East Noble) with a game-tying high 19 points on eight-of-10 shooting (80.0 percent).  He also grabbed a game-high seven rebounds.  Junior Nick Bowman (Angola, Ind./Hamilton Southeastern) was second in scoring with 15 points and sophomore Connor Jones (Danville, Ind./Danville) was third with 14 points.

Junior Mitchell Geller (Huntington, Ind./Huntington North) rounded out the high scorers with 11 points.

Trine will host Alma (Mich.) College in its first game of the MIAA Tournament that begins tomorrow (Tuesday, Mar. 2).  The two teams are scheduled to square off at 7:30 p.m. at the MTI Center.
