Bowman Selected as MIAA Men's Basketball Player of the Week

FREELAND, MICH.  --  Trine University men's basketball player Nick Bowman (Angola, Ind./Hamilton Southeastern) has been named the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association "Player of the Week."  It marks the third time this season that Bowman has been chosen as "Player of the Week."

As a team, the Thunder concluded the season with three victories in the MIAA Tournament to claim its first conference tournament title and remain undefeated at 17-0.  

In those three games, Bowman averaged 17.7 points per game and shot 38.1 percent (16-of-42) from the floor and went 19-of-20 from the free-throw line (19-of-20).  Bowman scored in double figures in two of the three games with 16 points in the win against Alma (Mich.) College and 29 points against Calvin (Mich.) University in the tournament semifinals.

In addition, Bowman recorded eight assists, had seven steals and blocked two shots.

For the season, Bowman averaged 22.2 ppg. on 54.9 percent shooting (140-of-255).  He also shot 43.1 percent (25-of-58) from three-point range and 78.5 percent (73-of-93) from the free-throw line.  Bowman scored in double figures in all but one game with 11 games of 20 or more points and two games of 30 or more points, including a career-high 35-point effort against Olivet (Mich.) College on Feb. 13.

Bowman averaged 3.6 rebounds per game to go along with 51 assists, a team-high 59 steals and four blocks.
