Rob Metry joined the Thunder staff as an assistant coach in Spring of 2017.

Metry, an Ohio native attended Wittenberg University from 2010-14.  During his time as a player and student assistant coach, Metry was a part of three NCAA tournament appearances, three 20-plus win seasons and an North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) regular-season championship.  His time at Wittenberg was highlighted by an Elite Eight appearance during the 2011-12 season.  Over the four years he attended Wittenberg, who is also the winningest basketball program in division III history, he was fortunate enough to study the game under coaching great, Bill Brown.  Coach Brown has over 500 career wins and was also the winningest coach in Wittenberg’s history.

Following his time at Wittenberg, Metry found himself at Heidelberg University, where he spent the past three years as a Graduate Assistant Coach.  Alongside fellow Wittenberg Alumni, Andy Bucheit, Metry continued his development as a young coach.  During his time at Heidelberg he lead the out-of-state recruiting efforts, landing recruits from six different states during his time.   He also had a hand in player development and game planning.  One of his largest roles came in the weight room.  Metry is a certified Strength and Conditioning coach.  While at Heidelberg, he took over the strength program and took the lead in developing players in the Fall and Spring.

After helping Heidelberg for three years and to their first winning season in the last seven, Metry made the move to Trine University where he will play a big role in recruiting and student-athlete development.
