Thunder Second after National Qualifier Second Round

WEST OLIVE, MICH.-- The Trine men's golf team finished first in round two of the MIAA National Qualifier Friday at Wuskowhon Golf Club to move into second place in the three-round tournament.

Thunder golfers combined for a score of 305 in the second round. That performance gives Trine a two-round score of 618, six strokes behind first-place Hope. Adrian is in third-place with a score of 625, with Calvin rounding things out at 636. The winner of the tournament will receive an automatic-qualifying bid to the NCAA Division III National Championships. The National Qualifier concludes tomorrow at Wuskowhon Golf Club.

Connor Dwyer led the Thunder for the second-consecutive round, shooting a 75. That performance was good enough for third-place overall, and comes on the heels of his first-place finish in round one.

Graham Bennett (Charlotte, N.C./Mallard Creek) and Cody Knapp (Liberty Center, Ohio/Liberty Center) each fired 76's to finish tied for sixth. Rounding out Trine's top four was Brandon Snell (Maumee, Ohio/Maumee), who carded a 78.

Trine will look to continue their solid and consistent play in tomorrow's finale.
