THUNDER GOLFERS SIXTH AT TWO-DAY EVENT

BATTLE CREEK, Mich. - The Trine University men’s golf team opened their season tied for sixth place with a team score of 305-305-610 at the Lou Collins Memorial Tournament host by Olivet College.

Hosted at the par-72, 6,890 yard Bedford Valley Country Club, Owens Community College took the team title with a score of 298-285-583. Individually, Blaze Hogan also from Owens took medalist honors with a two-round score of 72-69-141.

For Trine, senior Nolan Eli (Genoa, Ohio/Genoa) led the way with a two-day total of 74-74-148 to finish 10th. Sophomore Bryce Moore (Richmond, Ind./Richmond) had a solid second round to finish the tournament shooting 78-73-151 to tie for 18th. Senior Graham Bennett (Charlotte, N.C./Mallard Creek) tied for 26th shooting rounds of 74-79-153. Sophomore Corey Bremigan (Russia, Ohio/Russia) tied for 56th, carding a two-day total of 79-81-160. Rounding out the team scoring for the Thunder was junior Brandon Snell (Maumee, Ohio/Maumee) who finished tied for 61st with scores of 82-79-161.

Playing as an individual was sophomore Cody Knapp (Liberty Center, Ohio/Liberty Center) who had an outstanding weekend finishing tied for 7th with a two-day score of 77-69-146. His second round score of 69 was tied for the second lowest round of the tournament.

Trine returns to the course on September 5 when they play in the first MIAA Jamboree of the season hosted by Albion beginning at 1:00 p.m.
