Thunder Golfers Continue Busy Weekend

DEFIANCE, Ohio - In their second tournament in as many days, the Trine University men's golf team finished seventh at the Defiance College Fall Invitational with a team score of 339.

Played at the par-71, 6,130 yard Eagle Rock Golf Club, Owens Community College took the team and individual honors with a combined score of 287 while Blaze Hogan won with a 4-under-par 67.

Comprised of four seniors and a junior, the Thunder were led by Ben Gavin (Warsaw, Ind./Warsaw) who carded an 80 for the day to finish in a tie for 16th. Mike Reynolds (Wolcottville, Ind./Prairie Heights), the lone junior, turned in an 85 for the round to tie for 27th. Max Gordon (Itasca, Ill./Lake Park) and Patrick Halleck (Bowling Green, Ohio/Bowling Green) tied for 31st carding rounds of 87 respectively. Standing along in 34th place and rounding out the team scoring for Trine was Nick Ihrie with an 88 on the day.

Trine will wrap up their long weekend of three straight matches as they play in the fifth MIAA Jamboree of the season hosted by Kalamazoo on Sept. 23 beginning at 1 p.m.
