Eli Leads Thunder in Sweep of MIAA Jamboree

KALAMAZOO, Mich. - At the fifth MIAA Jamboree of the season, the Trine University men's golf team took home their first conference win of the season with a team score of 301. Trine senior Nolan Eli (Genoa, Ohio/Genoa) also took the individual hardware as he was the co-medalist with a 1-over-par 72.

Played at the par-71, 6,506 yard Kalamazoo Country Club, the Thunder won by six strokes over second place Calvin College. Eli shared the medalist honors with Will Reichle of Kalamazoo.

Sitting two strokes back of Eli in a tie for fourth was sophomore Connor Dwyer (Coldwater, Mich./Coldwater) with a 74 on the day. Fellow sophomore Corey Bremigan (Russia, Ohio/Russia) carded a 77 on the afternoon to finish in a tie for 10th. Senior Graham Bennett (Charlotte, N.C./Mallard Creek) finish with a 78 for the round to tie for 16th overall. Sophomore Bryce Moore (Richmond, Ind./Richmond) rounded out the team scoring for the Thunder as he tied for 36th firing an 83 for the day.

Playing as an Individual for Trine was sophomore Kevin Berry (Holly, Mich./Holly) who finished in a tie for 23rd with a score of 80.

Trine will host back-to-back events beginning with the match-play Ken Venturi Invitational on Sept. 27 at 1 p.m. The Thunder then host the next MIAA Jamboree on Sept. 28 also at 1 p.m.
