BATTLE CREEK, MICH.-- The Trine men's golf team placed 12th in the Olivet College Invitational, held Friday and Saturday at Bedford Valley Golf Course.
The Thunder shot a 308 in the second round to finish with a two-day score of 630. The second round score was 14-strokes better than the team's first-round total. Brandon Snell (Maumee, Ohio/Maumee) led the way for the Thunder, firing 73's on each day of the tournament to finish +3 overall. Snell finished in a tie for fourth individually. Owens Community College finished with an overall score of 588 to finish first. Calvin's John VanNoord shot a two-under 141 to take home individual medalist honors.

Connor Dwyer (Coldwater, Mich./Coldwater) finished second among Thunder golfers, tying for 13th overall with a two-round score of 150. Freshman Brandon Turner (Pioneer, Ohio/North Central) improved on his first round score by six strokes on the second day to finish third among Trine competitors.
Rounding out Trine's top five were Jason Niese (Leipsic, Ohio/Leipsic) and Sam Ginsburg (West Milton, Ohio/West Milton). Niese improved his score by six strokes in round two, while Ginsburg improved by eight strokes.
Trine returns to the links next Saturday, when they will play in the Alma MIAA Jamboree at Pine River Country Club in Alma, Mich.
