Thunder Men Place Third in Speiss Memorial

WAUSEON, OHIO-- The Trine men's golf team placed third in the John P. Speiss Memorial Tournament, held Tuesday at Ironwood Golf Course.

The Thunder "A" group of golfers combined to shoot a 297 (+9) in the one-round tournament. Trine also had a "B" group that placed 10th with a score of 312 (+24). A total of 15 groups representing 10 schools competed in the tournament. The Trine "A" group was led by Corey Bremigan (Russia, Ohio/Russia), who tied for sixth with an even-par 72. The performance marked the second-consecutive tournament Bremigan has finished even. Owens Community College took home the team title with a two-under 286. Owens was lead by individual medalist Harrison Long, who finished at minus-five for a score of 67.

Cody Knapp (Liberty Center, Ohio/Liberty Center) finished with a one-over 73 for his best score of the young season. Brandon Snell (Maumee, Ohio/Maumee) finished with a three-over 75 to finish third among Trine golfers making up the "A" group. Rounding out the group were Kevin Berry (Holly, Mich./Fenton) and Connor Dwyer (Coldwater, Mich./Coldwater), who each carded 77s.

The "B" group was led by senior Michael Reynolds (Wolcottville, Ind./Prairie Heights) with a one-over 73. Jordan Davidhizer (Millersburg, Ind./Fairfield) followed with a +5 performance. Rounding out the group was Austin Tevlin (Edwardsburg, Mich./Edwardsburg), Grant Klopfenstein (Howell, Mich.) and Shawn Reiner (Waterford, Mich./Mott).

Trine returns to action this Saturday, Sep. 13 when they travel to Adrian for round two of the MIAA Jamboree. The Thunder enter the round in second place in the MIAA fall standings.
