Thunder Win MIAA Jamboree at Albion

MARSHALL, MICH.-- The Trine men's golf team won the MIAA Jamboree at Albion, held Thursday at Medalist Golf Club.

The top four Thunder golfers combined to card a score of 305 (+17) to earn their first Jamboree win of the season. The victory brought Trine into a tie for second-place overall in the MIAA fall standings with Calvin. The Thunder and Knights have accumulated a three-round score of 912, eight-strokes behind first-place Hope. The MIAA Championship is based on the cumulative results of the eight MIAA Jamborees. The top four teams advance to the MIAA National Qualifier in the spring, the winner of which earnes an automatic-qualifying bid to the National Championships.

Leading the way for Trine was Brandon Snell (Maumee, Ohio/Maumee), who shot a three-over 75 to finish in a tie for fourth. The score was the senior's best score and finish in a Jamboree event this fall.

Finishing one-stroke behind Snell were Connor Dwyer (Coldwater, Mich./Coldwater) and Michael Reynolds (Wolcottville, Ind./Prairie Heights), who tied for eighth with a score of 76. Reynolds improved upon his score from the previous Jamboree (at Adrian) by four strokes.

Rounding out Trine's top four was Cody Knapp (Liberty Center, Ohio/Liberty Center), who finished with a 78.

The next Jamboree event will be hosted by Kalamazoo on Sept. 22 at the Kalamazoo Country Club.
