Thunder Win Third Jamboree of Season

ANGOLA, IND.-- The Trine men's golf team finished first in the MIAA Jamboree at Hope Thursday afternoon to earn their third Jamboree win of the fall.

Thunder golfers combined for a score of 293 (+9). Cody Knapp (Liberty Center, Ohio/Liberty Center) tied for first with a 70 (-1). The junior has carded Trine's best score in each of the last two Jamboree rounds. This is the first time Knapp has finished first in an MIAA event in his career. The three Jamboree wins are a first by any Trine team since 2005, when the Thunder finished second in the MIAA.

Connor Dwyer (Coldwater, Mich./Coldwater) and Corey Bremigan (Russia, Ohio/Russia) tied for seventh overall as each golfer carded a 74 (+3). That score was better than each golfer's season-average entering today's round. Bremigan was particularly sharp on the back-nine, finishing with a 33 over the last nine holes.

Rounding out Trine's top four was Michael Reynolds (Wolcottville, Ind./Prairie Heights), who finished with a 75.

The Thunder gained one stroke on first-place Hope in the overall MIAA standings. Trine sits in second-place, 10 strokes behind the Flying Dutchmen with one round to play.

The MIAA fall season concludes Tueday, Oct. 7 at Olivet. With a top-four finish, the Thunder can wrap-up a spot in the spring MIAA National Qualifier and a chance to compete for an automatic-qualifying bid to the NCAA Division III National Championships.
