Thunder Place Second in Steven Tyler Intercollegiate

PORTAGE, Mich.-- The Trine men's golf team placed second in the Steven Tyler Intercollegiate, held Monday at The Moors Golf Club.

Thunder golfers fired a score of 312 to finish as the top MIAA-participants in the tournament. Corey Bremigan (Russia, Ohio/Russia) tied for first to lead all Trine golfers, finishing with a two-over 74. The effort marked the third time the junior has medaled or tied for medalist honors during the 2014-15 season. His score was two strokes better than his season-average entering the tournament. Bremigan tied with Rochester College's Evan McClintock for the top score. Rochester finished as the top team with a score of 305.

Cody Knapp (Liberty Center, Ohio/Liberty Center) finished second among Thunder golfers and tied for fourth overall with a 76. Brandon Snell (Maumee, Ohio/Maumee) also notched a top-10 finish, coming in with a 78 to finish ninth overall.

Connor Dwyer (Coldwater, Mich./Coldwater) and Austin Tevlin (Edwardsburg, Mich./Edwardsburg) tied for 26th to round out Trine golfers competing in the event.

The Thunder finished three strokes ahead of MIAA-foe Hope to finish as the top conference team competing in the tournament. Trine and Hope will make up half of the field of the three-round MIAA National Qualifier this spring, the winner of which receives an automatic-qualifying bid to the NCAA Division III National Championships.

The Thunder host the first National Qualifier round this Saturday on the home links of Zollner Golf Course. The round is set to begin at 1 p.m.
