Men's Golf in Second after First Qualifier Round

ANGOLA, Ind.-- The Trine men's golf team is in second place after the first MIAA National Qualifier round, held Saturday on the links of Zollner Golf Course.

Thunder golfers combined for a team score of 294 to finish the day 10-over. Cody Knapp (Liberty Center, Ohio/Liberty Center) and Austin Tevlin (Edwardsburg, Mich./Edwardsburg) each fired 74s to finish in a tie for fourth. The performance was a season-best for Tevlin. He beat his previous season-average by five strokes and carded three birdies. Knapp finished at an even par on 14 holes. The Thunder trail first-place Hope by 10 strokes. The Flying Dutchmen shot a 284 in the round.

Brandon Snell (Maumee, Ohio/Maumee) tied for 11th with a 75 for Trine. The senior notched three birdies and finished even on 11 other holes. Connor Dwyer (Coldwater, Mich./Coldwater) also finished tied for 11th with a 75. Dwyer picked birdied two holes on the day. Corey Bremigan (Russia, Ohio/Russia) rounded out Thunder performers with a 76.

The next round of the MIAA National Qualifier will be played Friday, April 24 at Wuskowhan Players Club in West Olive, Mich. Hope, Trine, Calvin and Adrian are seperated by just 13 strokes. The winner of the three-round tournament receives an automatic-qualifying bid to the NCAA Division III National Championships.

Trine will host the A.C. Eddy Invitational tomorrow on the links of Zollner Golf Course. The event is set to tee off at 1 p.m.
