Thunder Place Second in Calvin Jamboree

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich.-- The Trine men's golf team placed second in the MIAA Jamboree at Calvin, contested Monday on the links of Watermark Country Club.

Thunder golfers combined for a team score of 304 (+16). Trine picked up five strokes on second-place Hope in the conference standings, but remains in third-place overall. The Thunder are five strokes behind the Flying Dutchmen and 17 strokes behind team leader Calvin. The Knights won today's Jamboree round with a team score of 296 (+8). Reigning MIAA Men's Golfer of the Week Connor Dwyer (Coldwater, Mich./Coldwater) continued his strong play of late in leading Trine with a two-over 74. The performance was good enough for fourth-place overall.

Cody Knapp (Liberty Center, Ohio/Liberty Center) matched his season-average in conference rounds with a three-over 75. That was good enough to tie for fifth place.

Austin Tevlin (Edwardsburg, Mich./Edwardsburg) fired a five-over 77 to tie for 11th, while Corey Bremigan (Russia, Ohio/Russia) finished with a 78 to round out Trine's top four. Brandon Turner (Pioneer, Ohio/North Central) rounded out team performers for the Thunder, while Kevin Berry (Holly, Mich./Fenton) competed as an individual.

Trine continues conference play in the MIAA Jamboree at Adrian this Saturday, Oct. 3. The round will be played at Lenawee Country Club.
