ANGOLA, Ind.-- The Trine men's golf team has released its spring schedule, the team announced Wednesday.
Highlighting the spring schedule once again will the opportunity to earn an automatic-qualifying bid to the NCAA Division III National Championships. The Thunder will compete in the three-round MIAA National Qualifier alongside Calvin, Hope and Kalamazoo for the chance to earn the AQ bid. Trine will have plenty of time to prepare for the National Qualifier rounds, as the tournament makes up the final three rounds of play of the season. One round will be hosted by Calvin at Watermark Country Club, while Hope will host the final two rounds at Wuskowhan Players Club.
A spring-break match against Oglethorpe College will tee off the final two months of the season. The Thunder will open tournament play at the Saint Francis Invitational April 1-2. Trine placed third in the tournament last year.
The Thunder will also have two opportunities to compete on the home links of Zollner Golf Course. The team hosts the A.C. Eddy Invitational (Apr. 12) and the Bill Gettig Invitational (Apr. 20). Trine will also host its traditional Grunge Day to close out the season.
Other tournaments include trips to invitationals hosted by MIAA foes Kalamazoo and Calvin. The Thunder have traditionally competed in both tournaments.
Trine finished third in the MIAA in the fall. Cody Knapp (Liberty Center, Ohio/Liberty Center) and Connor Dwyer (Coldwater, Mich./Coldwater) each earned All-MIAA First Team honors.
