CASCADE, Mich.-- The Trine men's golf team is in third place after the first round of the MIAA National Qualifier, held Saturday on the links of Watermark Country Club.
Thunder golfers combined for a score of 319, 22 strokes behind first-place Hope. Trine finished 31-over par on the day. Corey Bremigan (Russia, Ohio / Russia) and Austin Tevlin (Edwardsburg, Mich. / Edwardsburg) each finished with four-over 76s to lead Trine on the day. Hope's Winton Munch finished with a 71 for the best individual score of the day.

Cody Knapp (Liberty Center, Ohio / Liberty Center) finished with an 81 to place third among Thunder golfers. Dillon Kreutzer (Antioch, Ill. / Antioch Community) rounded out Trine's top four with an 86.
Two round of the MIAA National Qualifier remain to be played. The winner of the tournament receives an automatic-qualifying bid to the NCAA Division III National Championships.
The next round of the National Qualifier will be contested Friday, Apr. 29 at Wuskowhan Players Club in West Olive, Mich.
