Thunder Finish Third in MIAA National Qualifier

WEST OLIVE, Mich.-- The Trine men's golf team placed third in the MIAA National Qualifier, which concluded Saturday at Wuskowhan Players Club.

The Thunder finished with a score of 308 on the final day of the tournament to bring Trine's three-round total to 939. Hope College won the conference's automatic-qualifying bid, wrapping up its national championship appearance with a 295 on the final day for a score of 880. Four Thunder seniors competed in their final collegiate rounds today.

Cody Knapp (Liberty Center, Ohio / Liberty Center) led Trine in today's final round, firing a two-over 73. The round was his best of the spring season. Knapp wrapped up his career at Trine having earned two All-MIAA First Team honors.

Austin Tevlin (Edwardsburg, Mich. / Edwardsburg) followed up on his score of 74 yesterday with an identical score today. Tevlin concluded the season having team's lowest average round. The senior averaged a career-best 76.06 strokes per round this year.

Connor Dwyer (Coldwater, Mich. / Coldwater) finished with an 80 to match his score from round two. Dwyer concluded his collegiate career having earned All-MIAA honors each of the last two years.

Corey Bremigan (Russia, Ohio / Russia) rounded out Trine's top four with an 81. Bremigan was an all-conference performer in 2014.

Freshman Dillon Kreutzer (Antioch, Ill. / Antioch Community) rounded out Thunder performers in the National Qualifier.

The MIAA National Qualifier concludes the tournament season for the Trine men's golf team. The team will host its traditional Grunge Day to close out the year Monday, May 2 at 4 p.m.
