Men's Golf Team Announces 2016 Fall Schedule

ANGOLA, Ind. -- The Trine men's golf team has announced its fall schedule for the 2016 season.

The majority of the team's rounds this fall will come in MIAA play, with just three non-conference tournaments on the schedule. The season opens with a trip to Olivet College's Lou Collins Memorial at Bedford Valley Golf Course in Battle Creek, Mich. The two-round tournament begins Sep. 2 and offers the Thunder a chance to compete on a course the team will later see in conference play.

Trine will once again host the Ken Venturi Invitational this fall. The annual tournament features two-man teams who play an 18-hole round, with six holes each following a different format. The Thunder will also host the first MIAA Jamboree round on the home links of Zollner Golf Course. Trine has won its own Jamboree round three of the last four years.

The Jamboree hosted by Trine is one of four such rounds prior to the MIAA Championship. Olivet, Albion and Calvin will also host Jamboree rounds. This year's two-round championship will be hosted by Alma at Battle Creek Country Club in Battle Creek, Mich on Oct. 7-8. 

The final round of the fall will consist of a non-conference tournament hosted by Lourdes on Oct. 10.

Last season, the Thunder placed third in the MIAA fall standings to earn a trip to the MIAA National Qualifier. Trine also placed third in the spring qualifier. The team produced two All-MIAA performers.
