ANGOLA, Ind. -- The Trine men's golf team will be counting heavily on newcomers so remain in the top half of the MIAA this season.
The Thunder will have to replace five key contributors, including three players who earned All-MIAA honors during their careers. Trine's varsity roster includes six newcomers to the Thunder program. The team will be looking to continue its streak of finishing in the top four of the MIAA every year since joining the conference in 2004, including three straight top-three finishes.
Dillon Kreutzer (Antioch, Ill. / Antioch Community) returns with the most varsity experience. Kreutzer worked his way into Trine's top five last spring and contributed to the team's third-place finish in the MIAA Spring Qualifier.
Newcomers to the team include freshmen Grant Brettnacher (Brookton, Ind. / Harrison), Grant Konkle III (Jackson, Mich. / Lumen Christi), Joe LeSueur (Northfield Center, Ohio / Trinity), Grant McKay (Las Vegas, Nev. / Coronado), Todd Mieske (Owosso, Mich. / Owosso) and Alec Simpson (Calgary, Alberta).
The fall season tees off Friday, Sep. 2 at Olivet College's Lou Collins Memorial. The Thunder open MIAA Jamboree play on the home links of Zollner Golf Course Saturday, Sep. 10.
