Men's Golf Finishes in Sixth at Lou Collins Memorial Tournament

BATTLE CREEK, Mich.—The Trine men's golf team finished the Lou Collins Memorial Tournament in sixth place on Saturday afternoon.

Freshman Grant Brettnacher (Brookton, Ind./Harrison) posted the top score for the Thunder shooting a 75 for the second day in a row to total six over-50 for the tournament. Brettnacher finished tied for 17th place.

Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association foe Hope College won the tournament with a second round score of 284 for a total of 575. Madonna University took second at 586 strokes. Hope's Andrew Goble finished seven under to be the top individual, while his teammate Winton Munch golfed three under.

Grant McKay (Las Vegas, Nev./Coronado) finished tied for 37th shooting 78 for the second straight day (156 total). Also golfing for the Thunder were Nick Knowlton (Bridgman, Mich./Bridgman) who shot 80 on Saturday, Joe LeSueur (Northfield Center, Ohio/Trinity) at 82 and Todd Mieske (Owosso, Mich./Owosso) at 78.

The Thunder will begin MIAA jamboree play on Saturday, Sept. 10 at Zollner Golf Course.
