FREELAND, Mich.—Trine men's golf freshman Grant Brettnacher has been named Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association's men's golf player of the week the conference announced Monday.
Brettnacher (Brookton, Ind./Harrison) was the individual medalist on Saturday at the first MIAA jamboree of the season. The Thunder freshman shot two under-69 at the Zollner Golf Course. Brettnacher shot one under on the front nine with birdies on the eighth and nine holes. He followed with a one under on the back with a birdie on the par three 11th hole.
Brettnacher's score of 69 helped lead the Thunder to a tie for second place at four over-284.
Trine will be back in action on Tuesday when it will compete in its second MIAA jamboree of the year at Olivet.
