BATTLE CREEK, Mich.—Men's golf freshman Todd Mieske was the individual medalist at the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Conference's second jamboree on Tuesday afternoon. He led the Thunder to a third place team finish.
Mieske (Owosso, Mich./Owosso) shot five under-67 to sit on top of the individual leaderboard. The Thunder freshman notched six birdies on 18 holes. He shot three strokes lower than Hope College's Josh Gibson and Kalamazoo College's Nick Ludka, who tied for second at two under-70.
Trine University took third place with a score of 297, only two shots behind first-place Hope College and one shot behind Kalamazoo College.
Freshman Grant McKay finished tied for 13th with a four over-76. Also golfing for the Thunder was Grant Brettnacher (77, T-20th), Joe LeSueur (77, T-20th) and Nick Knowlton (80, T-26th). Knowlton notched three birdies on the day, while LeSueur and McKay each had two.
The Thunder will return to action next Wednesday, Sept. 21 for its third MIAA Jamboree at Albion. Play will begin at 1 p.m.
