GRAND RAPIDS, Mich.—The Trine men's golf team placed fourth at the final Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association jamboree of the season on Monday afternoon at the Watermark Country Club.
The Thunder shot a combined 307 and finished eight shots behind first place Hope. Adrian College placed second at 303, while host school Calvin took third at 305.
Trine freshman Grant Brettnacher (Brookton, Ind./Harrison) shared the top medalist spot with Hope's Winton Munch after both golfers turned in one-under 71 rounds. Fellow freshman Joe LeSueur (Northfield Center, Ohio/Trinity) shot three over-75 to place in a tie for ninth. Todd Mieske (Owosso, Mich./Owosso) tied for 15th shooting six over-78. Also golfing for the Thunder was Grant McKay (T32, 83) (Las Vegas, Nev./Coronado) and Nick Knowlton (T38, 86) (Bridgman, Mich./Bridgman).
The Thunder will be back in action on Saturday when it plays host to the Ken Venturi Invitational at 1 p.m. at the Zollner Golf Course.
