KALAMAZOO, Mich.—The Trine men's golf team placed fifth at the Steven Tyler Intercollegiate at the Moors Golf Club on Monday afternoon.
The Thunder finished the round a collective 28 over, three strokes behind Grace College in fourth place. Calvin and Kalamazoo tied for second at 20 over and Hope won the day at 12 over.
Grant McKay (Las Vegas, Nev./Coronado) tied for eighth, shooting five-over 77. Grant Brettnacher (Brookton, Ind./Harrison) was seven over-79. Joe LeSueur (Northfield Center, Ohio/Trinity) and Nick Knowlton (Bridgman, Mich./Bridgman) tied for 20th at eight over. Todd Mieske (Owosso, Mich./Owosso) rounded out the Trine players, tying for 28th at 11 over.
Calvin's Ben Van Scoyk was the top individual medalist shooting one under-71.
The Thunder returns to action on April 18 when it will play at the Knight Invite at the Pilgrim's Run Golf Course in Pierson, Mich.
