Men's Golf Takes Fourth at MIAA National Qualifier #1

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich.—The Trine men's golf team placed fourth at the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Automatic Qualifier #1 on Saturday at the Watermark Country Club.

Hope College took first combining to shoot four over. Calvin was second at 13 over, Kalamazoo placed third at 17 over and the Thunder shot 37 over.

Nick Knowlton (Bridgman, Mich./Bridgman) and Grant McKay (Las Vegas, Nev./Coronado) turned in low scores on the day for the Thunder tying for 10th at seven over. Todd Mieske (Owosso, Mich./Owosso) tied for 16th at 11 over. Grant Brettnacher (Brookton, Ind./Harrison) tied for 19th at 12 over with Joe LeSueur (Northfield Center, Ohio/Trinity).

Hope College's Kade Hoeksema and Winton Munch were the low individual medalists coming in two under-70.

The Thunder returns to action April 28 for the MIAA National Qualifier #2 at the Wuskowhan Players Club in West Olive, Mich.
