Men's Golf Takes Third in Second Round of MIAA National Qualifier

WEST OLIVE, Mich.—The Trine men's golf team competed in the second round of the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association National Qualifier on Friday afternoon.

Trine finished in second place combining to shoot 300 at the Wuskowhan Players Club.

Calvin won the round at 280, while Hope was two strokes behind at 282. Kalamazoo finished fourth at 302.

Hope's Josh Gibson was the individual medalist shooting six under-65.

Grant McKay (Las Vegas, Nev./Coronado) shot one under-70 to lead the Thunder. Todd Mieske (Owosso, Mich./Owosso) was four over-75. Grant Brettnacher (Brookton, Ind./Harrison) shot six-over 77. Nick Knowlton (Bridgman, Mich./Bridgman) and Joe LeSueur (Northfield, Ohio/Trinity) were both seven over-78 on the day.

The Thunder sits in fourth place in the MIAA race to win an automatic bid to nationals.

The final round tees off Saturday morning at 9 a.m.
