ANGOLA, Ind. -- The Trine men's golf team has released its fall 2017 schedule, the team announced today.
The Thunder host one tournament on the home links of Zollner Golf Course this fall, the Ken Venturi Invitational. The tournament is slated for Sep. 13. The typical format involves pairings playing six holes as a scramble, six holes with the better ball and six holes alternate shot. Trine placed second in the tournament last year.
The season opens with the Lou Collins Memorial, Sep. 1-2 at Bedford Valley Golf Course in Battle Creek, Mich. The non-conference portion of the schedule also includes two one-round tournaments - the Speiss Invitational (Sep. 12) and Defiance Invitational (Sep. 24).
Conference play once again consists of four MIAA Jamboree rounds prior to the two-round MIAA Championship. This year's Jamboree rounds are being hosted by Adrian, Alma, Hope and Kalamazoo. The conference season opens with the Jamboree at Adrian Sep. 19.
The MIAA Championship will be held Oct. 13-14 at Battle Creek Country Club in Battle Creek, Mich. The Thunder will be seeking its 14th consecutive finish among the top four in the conference. The top four teams advance to the MIAA National Qualifier in the spring, where they compete for the chance to earn an automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Men's Golf National Championship.
