Men's Golf Finishes Fifth

WAUSEON, OHIO – The Trine's men golf team finished fifth at the Jon P. Spiess Memorial Golf Tournament with a score of 310.

University of Northwestern Ohio's B team finished first in the tournament with a score of 300 and Jackson College (Mich.) finished in second with 302 strokes. Host Defiance College (Ohio) and Lourdes University (Ohio) finished tied for third with 308 strokes.

The Thunder were led on the day by sophomore Grant Brettnacher (Brookton/Harrison) who finished with a 75 stroke score which was good enough to finished tied for ninth as an individual. Finishing just behind Brettnacher, with a 76 stroke 11th place finish was fellow sophomore Grant McKay (Las Vegas, Nev./Coronado). Rounding out the card for Trine were freshmen Carlos Coeto (San Luis Potosi, Mexico) with 79 strokes and Nicklaus Jasiak (Schoolcraft, Mich./Schoolcraft) with 80 storkes.

Trine's B team also competed in the event and finished 12th. Freshman Jeffrey Uhls (Shelbyville/Shelbyville) led the way with a 79 on the day.

The Thunder will next take the links when tomorrow, Sept. 13 at home when they compete in and host the Ken Venturi Invitational.
