ANGOLA, IND. -- The Trine University men's golf team made it to the championship round before coming up just short of St. Francis in the match play event.
The Thunder were represented by Grant Brettnacher, Grant McKay, Cameron Ruge, Todd Mieske and Nick Knowlton in the event. They came away with the win in the first round by taking four of five matches against Rochester College.
In the championship round, Trine faced off with the University of St. Francis. The match came down to the No. 2 pairing where McKay and his opponent ended the 18 hole match all square with the teams tied at two wins apiece. McKay came up short in the extra hole and St. Francis came away with the victory.
Trine will continue action tomorrow, April 11 when they travel to the Lourdes Invitation which will take place at Heatherdowns Country Club in Toledo, Ohio. The tournament is set to start at 10:00 a.m.
