Ruge Named MIAA Athlete of the Week

ANGOLA, IND. – Freshman Cameron Ruge (Coldwater, Mich. / Coldwater) has been named this week's Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Athlete of the Week for the first time in his career.

Trine competed twice this week, winning the A.C. Eddy Invitational on Wednesday, April 18 and then coming in third at the first MIAA National Qualifier. Ruge played a vital role in both outcomes.

In the A.C. Eddy, Ruge came in with a six under par 65 to finish as the individual medalist at the event in addition to leading the way for the team's victory. The score ties a team record for low score on Zollner Golf Course during a collegiate tournament.

In the second event of the week, Ruge turned in a score of 71 strokes, good enough to finish tied for fifth in the event and second on the team.

The Thunder take the links again today traveling to the Steve Tyler Invitational played at the Moors Country Club in Portage, Mich. They will return to MIAA National Qualifier action on Friday, April 27 when they travel to the Watermark Country Club in Grand Rapids, Mich.
