Men's Golf Finishes MIAA National Qualifier Third

GRAND RAPIDS, MICH. -- The Trine University men's golf team finished off conference postseason play by finishing third in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) National Qualifier.

The team finished the event this weekend by recording the final two rounds of the three-round event. This weekend the Thunder finished in third with a team score of 637. Overall the team finished in third with a score of 925. Hope College earns the national qualifier with a total score of 889.

This weekend, freshman Cameron Ruge (Coldwater, Mich. / Coldwater) led the way for the Thunder finishing the two rounds of golf with 152 (75+77) strokes, which was also good enough to finish the two rounds tied for fourth as an individual. Sophomores Grant McKay (Las Vegas, Nev. / Coronado) and Grant Brettnacher (Brookton, Ind. / Harrison) each finished with 155 strokes for the Thunder. Sophomore Nick Knowlton (Bridgman, Mich. / Bridgman) rounded out the card for Trine with 165 strokes.
