Men's Golf Finishes Third at MIAA Jamboree #3

MARSHALL, MICH.  --  The Trine University men's golf team completed play in the third Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association sponsored event of the year and placed third overall at the MIAA Jamboree #3 hosted by Albion (Mich.) College at The Medalist Golf Club in Marshall, Mich.

Trine posted a combined score of 312 strokes to finish third of eight teams.  Hope (Mich.) College took top honors with a team score of 302 strokes and Calvin (Mich.) College was second with 308 strokes.

The top individual score on the day for the Thunder was turned in by junior Todd Mieske (Owosso, Mich./Owosso) who shot a 75 and finished in a tie for fourth.  Junior Grant Brettnacher (Lafayette, Ind./Harrison) also placed in the top-10 after firing a round of 76 to finish in a tie for eighth place.

Sophomore Cameron Ruge (Coldwater, Mich./Coldwater) came in with a sub-80 score of 79 strokes to finish third on the team and tied for 15th overall.

Juniors Nick Knowlton (Bridgman, Mich./Bridgman) and Joe LeSueur (Northfield Center, Ohio/Trinity) wrapped-up the team qualifying scores with rounds of 82 and 83 strokes, respectively.

Sophomore Carlos Coeto (Bernardo, Mexico) competed for Trine as an individual and carded a 77 which was good enough for a tie for 10th place.

Trine will compete in the fourth and final MIAA Jamboree on Monday, Oct. 1 at Watermark Country Club in Forest Hills, Mich.  Calvin (Mich.) College hosts the event which is scheduled to start at 1 p.m.
