Coeto Finishes Tied for Third To Lead Men's Golf at KZOO Invite

PORTAGE, MICH.  --  Sophomore Carlos Coeto (Bernardo, Mexico) finished in a tie for third overall to help lead the Trine University men's golf team to a second place finish at the Steven Tyler Intercollegiate Invitational hosted by Kalamazoo (Mich.) College at The Moors Golf Club in Portage, Mich.

Trine ended the tournament with an overall team score of 313 strokes to finish second of seven teams.  Host school Kalamazoo captured the event with 310 strokes and Adrian (Mich.) College was third with 315 strokes.

Coeto was one of two Trine players to record a score in the 70's with a total of 76 strokes.  Junior Joe LeSueur (Northfield Center, Ohio/Trinity) finished second on the team with a round of 78 strokes and was tied for seventh overall.  

Sophomore Cameron Ruge (Coldwater, Mich./Coldwater) carded a round of 79 strokes and was 12th, while junior Nick Knowlton (Bridgman, Mich./Bridgman) finished the tournament with 80 strokes and was tied for 13th.

Junior Grant Brettnacher (Lafayette, Ind./Harrison) rounded out the team eligible scores at 81 strokes and placed inside the top-20 in 16th place.

Junior Todd Mieske (Owosso, Mich./Owosso) also competed and shot a round of 77 strokes and placed sixth among the field as an individual.

The Thunder are scheduled to host the Bill Gettig Match Play event on Friday, Apr. 12 at Zollner Golf Course in Angola, Ind.  The event is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m.
