Men's Golf Remains in Third Place After Round Two of MIAA AQ

WEST OLIVE, MICH.  --  The Trine University men's golf remains in third place after the second round of the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association automatic qualifier that was played at Wuskowhan Country Club in West Olive, Mich.

The Thunder shot a team total of 310 strokes in round number two which brings their overall total to 621 strokes (311+310=621) to sit in third place overall.  Kalamazoo (Mich.) College continues to lead with a 36-hole total of 609 strokes (307+302=609).  Hope (Mich.) College is second with 610 strokes (310+300=610).

Junior Grant Brettnacher (Lafayette, Ind./Harrison) led Trine individually with today's round of 72 strokes.  For the tournament, Brettnacher has a total of 145 strokes (73+72=145) which puts him second overall by two strokes.  Fellow junior Nick Knowlton (Bridgman, Mich./Bridgman) fired a second-round score of 77 strokes and now has 162 total strokes (85+77=162).

Junior Todd Mieske (Owosso, Mich./Owosso) was one of three total individuals to card rounds in the 70s with 79 strokes and matched his score from the first round to increase his overall total to 158 strokes (79+79=158).  Junior Joe LeSueur (Northfield Center, Ohio/Trinity) had the fourth-lowest score of the day at 82 strokes and now has a 36-hole total of 163 strokes (81+82=163). 

Sophomore Cameron Ruge (Coldwater, Mich./Coldwater) rounded out the five Trine competitors with a second-round total 83 strokes and brings his overall accumulated score to 161 strokes (78+83=161).

Trine will wrap-up the event tomorrow (Saturday, Apr. 27) back at Wuskowhan Country Club in West Olive, Mich.  The day is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
