ANGOLA, IND. -- Senior Trine University men's golfer Nick Knowlton (Bridgman, Mich./Bridgman) has been named this week's Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Men's "Golfer of the Week."
Knowlton helped lead the Thunder to victory at the MIAA Jamboree #2 this past weekend in Alma, Mich. Trine finished 14 strokes ahead of second place Calvin (Mich.) College and extended it's lead in the overall MIAA event standings as the team approaches the conference championship in early October. The win at the jamboree also marks the second straight win for the Thunder in MIAA event play.
Individually, Knowlton shot a round of two-under par (70 strokes) and finished as medalist in his second-straight MIAA event of the season.
Trine will look to continue its impressive play when it travels to compete in the Lourdes Invitational hosted by Lourdes (Ohio) University on Wednesday, Sept. 25. The single-round tournament will be held at Legacy Golf Course in Ottawa Lake, Mich. with a start time of 9 a.m.
