ANGOLA, IND. -- Junior Trine University men's golfer, Cameron Ruge (Coldwater, Mich./Coldwater), has been named this week's Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association men's golf "Player of the Week."
Ruge helped lead the Thunder golf team to its third event win in MIAA play with the team title at the MIAA Jamboree #3 at Lenawee Country Club in Adrian, Mich. this past weekend. Three of the five players making up the individual team eligible scores were at par or better with Ruge posting a score of three-under 69 strokes to earn medalist honors. It marked the third straight MIAA event that a Trine player has shot the lowest overall score.
As a team, the Thunder ended the day with a total of 286 strokes and finished 11 strokes ahead of its nearest opponent in Hope (Mich.) College.
Trine will play in the final MIAA Jamboree single-round tournament of the fall today (Monday, Sept. 30) at the Kalamazoo Country Club beginning at 1 p.m. in Kalamazoo, Mich.
