Trine Concludes Fall Season With Runner-Up Effort

GRAND RAPIDS, MICH.  --  The Trine University men's golf team ended the fall season with a second place finish at the Calvin (Mich.) University Invitational hosted at Watermark Country Club in Grand Rapids, Mich.

Sophomore Mitch Lowney (Fenton, Mich./Clarkston Everest) shot a team-best round of 76 strokes and placed fifth overall.  Two other players recorded rounds in the 70s that included senior Todd Mieske (Owosso, Mich./Owosso) who fired a score of 78 strokes.  Fellow senior Cameron Ruge (Coldwater, Mich./Coldwater) equalled Mieske with a score of 78 strokes and both finished in a tie for sixth.

Senior Carlos Coeto (Bernardo, Mexico) was fourth on the team with an 83 (t-16th) and freshman Mark Civanich (Valparaiso, Ind./Valparaiso) finished five shots back at 88 strokes (t-20th).

As a team, Trine posted a cumulative total of 315 strokes to finish second.  Host Calvin captured the event with an even 300 strokes and Adrian (Mich.) College was third at 318 strokes.

Senior Jeffrey Uhls (Shelbyville, Ind./Shelbyville) and sophomore Mitch Blank (Hillsdale, Mich./Hillsdale) both competed as individuals with Uhls posting a top-10 score of 78 strokes to tie for sixth place.  Blank ended the day with a total of 95 strokes and finished in 25th.
