Men's Golf Wins Adrian Invitational

ADRIAN, MICH.  --  The Trine University men's golf team won its second-straight spring tournament of the season at the Adrian (Mich.) College Invitational at the Lenawee Country Club in Adrian, Mich. 

The Thunder finished with a team score of 295 strokes, eight strokes ahead of second-place Hope (Mich.) College who totaled 303 strokes.  Host school Adrian rounded out the top three with 304 strokes.

Trine's top four individual scores all placed in the top 10, led by senior Cameron Ruge (Coldwater, Mich./Coldwater) who carded a round of 72 strokes and finished second overall.  Freshman Mark Civanich (Valparaiso, Ind./Valparaiso) was second for the Thunder with a score of 73 strokes and placed third.

Senior Carlos Coeto (Bernardo, Mexico) and sophomore Mitch Lowney (Fenton, Mich./Clarkston Everest) both shot rounds of 75 strokes and placed in a tie for sixth among the field.

Senior Todd Mieske (Owosso, Mich./Owosso) rounded out the team eligible scoring with an 18-hole total of 85 strokes.

Trine had one additional player compete as an individual in freshman Jack Brockie (Jackson, Mich./Hanover Horton) and placed in a tie for 17th place after firing a round of 78 strokes.

The men's golf team will look to keep its momentum going when it competes in the one-day Hope Invitational on Monday, Apr. 5 at Wuskowhan Country Club in Forest Hills, Mich.  The day is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
