Thunder Drop One in League Standings Following Fourth-Place Finish at Calvin

CALEDONIA TOWNSHIP, Mich. – The Trine University men's golf team placed fourth out of the eight Michigan Intercollegiate Athletics Association (MIAA) schools at the Jamboree hosted by Calvin University at Stonewater Country Club on Monday.

The Thunder scored 314 as a team, with host Calvin won the team award, picked up nine strokes and passed Hope College in the MIAA standings. Trine sits in third in the rankings, just ahead of Kalamazoo.

Mark Civanich [Valparaiso, Ind. / Valparaiso] tied for third in the tournament after a 1-under back nine to score a 72.

Mitch Lowney [Fenton, Mich. / Clarkston Everest] had two birdies on the day en route to a score of 78.

Jack Brockie [Jackson, Mich. / Hanover Horton] and Charlie Eriksen [Bloomfield Hills, Mich. / Cranbrook Kingswood] tied with matching scores of 82 on the course Monday, with Brockie firing an eagle on the par-4 8th hole.

Brogan Brockie [Jackson, Mich. / Hanover Horton] wrapped up play with a 91, but hit for birdie on the par-5 3rd hole.

Individuals Carter Rang [Fort Wayne, Ind. / Concordia Lutheran] and Mitch Blank [Hillsdale, Mich. / Hillsdale] were in attendance as well. Rang shot a 79 and Blank an 85.

The next tournament for the Thunder men's golfers will be the rescheduled Jamboree at Olivet on October 13.
