Men's Golf Finishes Fourth in Final Jamboree of Fall

MARSHALL, Mich. -- The Trine University men's golf team finished off the final Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Jamboree of the season by coming in fourth as a team.

Calvin University finished first in the competition with a team score of 294 while Hope College came in second with 298 strokes. Adrian College rounded out the top three with a score of 318 with Trine finishing fourth with 323 strokes.

Leading the way individually for the Thunder was freshman Brogan Brockie (Jackson, Mich. / Hanover Horton) who finished tied for ninth in the event with a score of 77 strokes. Coming in just behind him was junior Mitch Lowney (Fenton, Mich. / Clarkston Everest) who finished with 78 strokes, in a tie for 11th individually.

Sophomore Mark Civanich (Valparaiso, Ind. / Valparaiso) finished with a score of 83 strokes and classmate Carter Rang (Fort Wayne, Ind. / Concordia Lutheran) rounded out the counting scores for the team with 85 strokes. Jack Brockie (Jackson, Mich. / Hanover Horton) came in fifth on the team with a score of 86 strokes.

A pair of Trine student-athletes competed as individuals in the event. Freshman Colin Cruumrine (Newark, Ohio / Newark Catholic) finished with 81 strokes in a tie for 21st and junior Charlie Eriksen (Bloomfield Hills, Mich. / Cranbrook Kingswood) came in a tie for 25th with 83 strokes.

The team will next take the course when they travel to compete in the two-day MIAA Championship where they will enter as the third seed behind Calvin and Hope. The contest begins on Friday, Oct. 15 with a 1 p.m. start. The second day of the event will take place on Saturday, Oct. 16, starting at 10 a.m.
