Men's Golf Opens Spring Season with Win at Oglethorpe

DULUTH, Ga. – The Trine University men's golf team defeated Oglethorpe University by one stroke 306-305 on their spring break trip.

The Thunder opened up their spring season at the Berkeley Hills Country Club with impressive numbers put up by their scoring party. Mark Civanich [Valparaiso, Ind. / Valparaiso] led the way with a 1-over 73, featuring birdies on the par-4 sixth and 18th holes.

Jack Brockie [Jackson, Mich. / Hanover Horton] had three birdies over the final four holes of the front nine and finished with a 76. Mitch Lowney [Fenton, Mich. / Clarkston Everest] was just behind with a 77 and Brogan Brockie [Jackson, Mich. / Hanover Horton] used birdies on two of the four par-5 holes to finish at 79.

Charlie Eriksen [Bloomfield Hills, Mich. / Cranbrook Kingswood] scored a 93 with a pair of birdies on par-5 holes as well. Competing as an individual, Carter Rang [Fort Wayne, Ind. / Concordia Lutheran] was at 92 through 18 holes.

The Thunder continue their spring season with the two-day Great Lakes Invitational at The Trophy Club in Lebanon, Indiana on March 26-27.
